August 2024

Eden and Makira of Park Hopping My Happy Place welcome you back and are proud to say that this challenge is perfectly normal; thank you very much.

Our month starts on an ordinary Thursday this first day of August. As we start our adventure, let’s think of nothing except theme parks and the arts and crafts inspired by them.

Nearly eighteen months have passed since we began this journey, and this month we are on our way back to Orlando, Florida in the United States. Here, we enter The Wizarding World of Harry Potter, where the cobbled streets of Diagon Alley and the quaint village of Hogsmeade await. While the majestic halls of the Ministry of Magic remain concealed for now, whispers reach our eager ears that its grand debut is foreseen in the year 2025.

CRAFTERS! COME AND LOOK AT THESE MAKES, YOU WON’T BELIEVE WHAT YOU’LL SEE!

If, perchance, their masterpieces ensnare your affections, we humbly extend an invitation for you to grace their profiles with the magic of your kind words.

Makira, inspired by the Hogwarts cards and colors, created this special delivery. Using Tim Holtz distress oxide inks, clear embossing, and Tim Holtz stamps, the card’s colors and theme of postage reflect the mood board beautifully.
Although Eden made the hop over to Orlando, she draws her inspiration from the ET ride, most precisely ET’s friends from his home planet.

Dear crafters, we are pleased to inform you that you are invited to join us here at Park Hopping My Happy Place. Please join us below by adding a link in the Whimsilinkz found at the bottom of this parchment, or grace Instagram with the brilliance of your masterpiece, with the tag @parkhoppingmyhappyplace. We await your submission no later than August 31.

Questions may be exploding inside your head like fireworks, making it difficult to decide what to do first. Should you require additional inspiration, I encourage you to peruse our inspiration page—it stands prepared to ignite the flames of your creativity.

You are invited to the Inlinkz link party!

This is just an ordinary blog full of ordinary crafters. Could there really be a change in the verbiage of this blog? Might this not be a whitty puzzle to decipher? If you hadn’t known our sense of humor, you now do. Is this? Can this be? Write your thoughts below.

Must get on — Lots to do. Come on, theme parks are just watin’ for yeh.

Thanks, I’ll need something to look forward to… Bye, Makira

Please accept my apologies for the lack of comments. Eden and I experienced the eye of Hurricane Beryl at the beginning of the month and have been working hard to get everything back together. Between work and our house, we were without power for almost three weeks. Isn’t it frustrating when life interrupts your crafting time?!

July 2024

If you’re reading this because you think you might be a crafter, my advice is: hide your credit card now.

We could start at any point, but things really start going swimmingly this month as our crafting adventure takes a field trip to PortAdventura in Spain.

Our names are Makira and Eden. Are we a crafty group? Yeah. You could say that.

Makira led the park choice this month. She searched through countless websites, looking for the perfect summer getaway. A gathering at a waterpark, where we can float along a lazy river.

I have a surprise for you, we are collaborating with another challenge.

The Double Trouble Challenge.

Two weeks of collaboration — starting as soon as you hop to their blog.

Hey, demigods! Just toss some embossing or stenciling into your Park Hopping project, and boom! You might just snag a random draw prize at Double Trouble. Easy as nailing a monster with Riptide!

Confession time: I ditched the water park theme as one of our DT projects. Yeah, I know, I know. It is normal, I swear. Whenever we’re not inspired by the current theme park choice, we get to pick a different one. So, water slides and wave pools? Not today. Maybe next time, Poseidon.

A word about our design team, before you see their makes. Their names are Eden and Makira, and they have a love of theme parks. The best break they ever got was vacationing at US theme parks. We love them. We’d been going there since Eden was a baby. Makira had been going even longer.

If their creations win you over, we humbly ask you to head over to their profiles and shower them with the awesome dewdrops of your kind comments. Trust me, it’ll make their day – maybe even more than discovering you’re a demigod!

Makira, like the sea, hates being restrained. This month, she drew her inspiration from the vibrant colors of the park’s photo.
Eden, clearly inspired by this month’s mood board, couldn’t resist using this adorable red panda for her seascape. It’s like she’s created a scene where the gods of cuteness and creativity collided!

To join this month’s epic trek, grab your crafting tools and art supplies to create something truly legendary. Share your masterpiece by dropping a link in the Whimsilinkz at the bottom of this post, or light up Instagram with your brilliance by tagging @parkhoppingmyhappyplace. Let’s see what you’ve got, heroes!

If you have left your shield at an abandoned water park and are lacking inspiration, go check out our inspiration page. The opportunity to be ignited is there.

In a way, it’s nice to know there are challenges out there. For instance, you’re reading this month’s post, which has just changed, most people would think that’s just really bad luck; when you’re a crafter, you understand that it is just a creative exercise. Any guesses on who might be the latest mimic author? Share your thoughts below!

Whenever you are ready, we are here. Here to welcome your participation.

Take care. Keep your eyes open! Makira

June 2024

Good morning! Salutations!

Where are we going to be inspired by our favorite theme parks? said the crafters as they returned.

Eden and Makira are hopping over to Universal Studios, Florida, to celebrate their new children’s area: DreamWorks Land. The air is filled with excitement, and the park buzzes with the joy of discovery.

You won’t believe the colorful, imaginative new land. Oh, get ready to play! It’s amazing! Kids, young and old, will love meeting Shrek and splashing in his swamp. You’ll love screaming with laughter on the Trollercoaster, enjoying noodles with Po, and visiting cats at Mama Luna’s Retirement Home.

The early summer days at Universal are a jubilee with the unveiling of this land’s wonders.

Spark your imagination? If this new area doesn’t, let your creativity flow freely—anything inspired by a theme park is welcome.

I know a good thing when I see it. and our design team’s creations are good. This month, our skilled design team has fashioned some new pieces to inspire. If you’re so inclined, they’d greatly appreciate your cheerful comments on their blogs.

Makira, a lover of recycling, has repurposed a Golden Book from book to journal. She can’t wait to use it!
Eden, although inspired by the green foliage of Dreamworks land, was inspired by Ghibli Park in Japan, in particular, the movie Spirited Away, for this card.
After two days of unremitting effort and patience on the part of our friend Makira, she now has this beautiful tag to show for it. Now, isn’t it lovely?! She was inspired by Olaf from Frozen and all the beautiful items found around Christmastime.

Now, then, there is no time to be lost. All right? Your next…to join our wonderful adventure into the wonderful theme-park challenge where you can be happy and free to do as you please. Reveal your magnum opus by adding a link in the Inlinkz tucked at the bottom of this post, or grace Instagram with the splendor of your masterpiece, adorned with the tag @parkhoppingmyhappyplace.

Good parks, Terrific parks, Radiant parks…. May they persist in igniting imagination and fostering creativity.

Bring me back a word—oops, I mean a name. In an intricate twist, the verbiage of our blog has changed form, inspired by a renowned children’s author. Observe the Trollercoster’s adornment for clues to the book we emulate. Do you have any ideas of the writer’s pen we copied? If so, share your thoughts in the comments below.

May every day be happy and every night be peaceful! Makira

May 2024

Lights, cameras, and welcome back crafters! Captivated by theme parks worldwide, let’s breathe life into our makes. Action!

It still gets me every time….. to see the sad ruin of the Great Movie Ride where she took her last bow at 9:30pm on August 13, 2017 after her long run of entertainment standing at the end of Hollywood Boulevard.

Here we go again, on the deck of Disney’s Hollywood Studios…..6.6 miles south of Magic Kingdom in Bay Lake, FL, USA. The pressure is on to create. Right, let’s go to work.

Ohhhh, daddy-o, are you seein’ what I’m seein’?

Crafters, Makira and Eden, are best known for their mixed media and card making skills. Now they are using their talent to work on paying homage to another famous ride….. The Great Movie Ride.

It’s been seven years……and I can still smell the waterfall from Footlight Parade. I can hear the call from Tarzan. And see the snakes from Indiana Jones. The Great Movie Ride was called a Journey into the Movies. And it was. It really was……..

You can be blase’ about some things, but not about our design team. Their creations are inspired by movies and are far more beautiful.

Eden was inspired by vintage horror movies, the colors of our mood board, and Halloween Horror Nights (mothman).
Makira was inspired by vintage movies & the vintage cars at Europa Park

CRAFT CHALLENGES

A social center of card-making hobbyists. There are mothers with children making school and birthday crafts in several languages. There are old women creating, men playing too, girls crocheting and drawing. The activity is genuine and we wait with awe.

Just inside the blog, a crating game is in progress. TWO ladies, plainly dressed, play a whimsical game. Makira and Eden, both related, exchange smiles as they view the entries. They wonder who the lucky winner will be this month.

“To make a good film, you need a script, a script, and the script,”-Alfred Hitchcock.

We decided to attempt that. Can you guess the screenwriter we attempted to copy? There’s no need to founder; the text above gives hints. Share your thoughts below in the comments.

May the theme parks that captivate your heart evermore fill you with joy and serve as wellsprings of inspiration.

That’s a wrap! Makira

April 2024

Welcome back, brave warriors of the wild! Today, let us embark on a journey brimming with inspiration drawn from the enchanting realms of our cherished parks.

Behold, for our quest leads us to the distant lands of Japan, where we shall tread the hallowed grounds of Sanrio Puroland! Within its gates awaits a wondrous indoor sanctuary where the spirits of cuteness reign supreme and where we shall commune with none other than the beloved Hello Kitty and her faithful companions.

In this magical theme park, every corner is adorned with the whimsical charm of our most cherished characters. Prepare yourselves for an adventure unlike any other that awaits us amidst the vibrant hues and joyful laughter that permeate these grounds.

In this curious moon’s cycle, our sights are drawn to the fantastical realms of Kitī Howaito. Fret not for those whose fancy is not moved by kawaii pop culture! Set forth instead on a delightful jaunt to a park of your choosing. The choice, dear comrades, is a whimsical one, and the joy is boundless!

Our ingenious crafters have labored ceaselessly throughout this fanciful month, conjuring marvels and wonders to delight your senses. Should their creations capture your heart, as they have ours, we implore you to venture to their domains and shower them with the delightful dewdrops of your kind words.

Makira has been experimenting with wax melts this moon’s turn, discovering their seamless harmony with the delightful Sanrio companions. And what inspired these wax melts? None other than the enchanting Wizarding World of Harry Potter.
Eden found inspiration in the Ratatouille ride at Epcot. Remy’s initial task was to detect poison before he embarked on his culinary journey as a chef.

To join our ranks, simply gather your art and craft supplies, fashion something inspired by theme parks, and contribute a link in the Inlinkz provided below or tag us on Instagram using @parkhoppingmyhappyplace.

I eagerly anticipate beholding your creations this moon’s turn! Should you require further assistance in igniting your creative flame, peruse our inspiration page for guidance. Our Inspiration page undergoes frequent updates, with numerous changes occurring even in the span of a few days. Be sure to give it a look!
