Hello Friends, and Happy Holidays!

This challenge was inspired by the numerous crafters and artists drawn to theme parks’ fandom and artistry. The holidays are celebrated in theme parks worldwide in many different ways, colors and themes. Below are a few trees found at the theme parks during the Christmas celebrations.

Left to Right: Disney’s Yacht Club Resort, Disneyworld’s Toon Town Fair (from Christmas’ past), Legoland’s Lego Tree.

This challenge’s theme is anything goes- theme park inspired. It is a monthly challenge, and any craft or art is welcome. For more information, check out our rules.

Here are a couple inspirational projects from Makira.

Makira takes inspiration from the red tree and the Cat’s of Disneyworld
Makira takes her inspiration from the Blizzard Beach water park.

Your submission may be inspired by any theme park, from any location, season, or era—including imaginative blue-sky concepts. Now it’s your turn, and I’m excited to see your creativity shine!

As you can tell, the verbage is changed this month back to a regular blog post. I thought it would be fun to change it up. Comment down below with your favorite Christmas author, book, or movie for a chance to win the “author” random.org drawing.

My favorite Christmas story is “The Mitten” by Jan Brett.

  1. I agree with others, picking just one Christmas related book as my favorite is HARD! So I’ll pick the one that had a major impact on my life. It’s a small book named “A Cup of Christmas Tea” by Tom Hegg.

And now… a bit of history on my selection! Back in the mid 1980’s a friend at a church my hubby and I were attending in South Dakota knew that I was comfortable with public speaking. (At that time I’d been a health educator/teacher for a few decades!) She asked if I could share a reading of this new book that had a wonderful message about the importance of relationships during the holidays at our annual Christmas Gathering for church women and guests. As I read the book I immediately knew that I needed to not just read it to the gathering, but that I needed to memorize it so that it would be more like telling a beloved story. I ended up sharing it at the church event… and also at a nursing home, Staff Christmas party at a local school, and a few other places. It really is a wonderful heartwarming little book, which still can bring tears to my eyes when I read it!

  2. What a wonderful memory! Honestly, I have never heard of this book. 😁. I’ll be off to track it down later today. Thanks for playing with us. Hope you have a Merry Christmas. 🎄❤️Makira

  3. My favourite Christmas movie is BUSH CHRISTMAS – an Australian classic family film from the 1940s. Probably not known outside Australia, but it showed on TV every Christmas when I was a child in the 1970s. As much as I adore northern hemisphere “white Christmas” stories and imagery, they are very hard to relate to when my own experience of Christmas is in the context of a hot and dry (or hot and wet!) southern summer. If you get a chance to check it out – this is a highly recommended piece of Aussie nostalgia 🇦🇺 🦘

    • Karen, 49 years ago my fiancée Rich invited his cousin Dan to be best man at our wedding. That normally wouldn’t be unusual, except that Dans family had moved from the northern plains of the US to Australia when they were in 7th grade… so Dan would need to travel a loooong way to join in our celebration. We were excited when he accepted the offer and his presence helped make the day even better than usual! We’ve kept in touch ever since, usually touching base by phone, now FaceTime, during the holidays when we would compare weather reports!

So… I am interested in seeing Bush Christmas and am researching how that might be possible. (It’s on Netfliz, but not available in the US, so I’m checking the web and our local library!) Will be fun to see Christmas through the eyes that Dan and his family have experienced the holidays for more than half a century!

      So, thanks for mentioning it!

  4. The Christmas Card is my favorite Christmas movie! It was filmed locally (in Nevada City, CA), so I really enjoy seeing it since it has so many of the local scenes, shops and restaurants shown that are familiar to me.
